Gehrer, Elisabeth, b. Vienna, May 11, 1942, teacher and politician (ÖVP). Member of the Landtag of Vorarlberg from 1984 to 1990, and its vice president in 1989. As member of the Vorarlberg provincial cabinet in charge of education, family and development aid from 1990-1995. From 1995-2000 Federal Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs, since 2000 Federal Minister of Education, Science and Culture.
