Gebhard, Heiliger, Fest 15. JuniGebhard, Saint, feast day June 15th, d. Werfen (Salzburg), June 15, 1088, Count Helfenstein, Archbishop of Salzburg (1060-1088). Imperial Chancellor from 1057-1059; founded the Salzburg bishopric of Gurk in 1072 and Admont Abbey in 1074, where he is buried. Organised the division of parishes, promoted missionary work, fortified Hohensalzburg, Werfen and Friesach. Exiled from 1079-1086. Venerated in Admont and Salzburg. Literature: K.
