Gasteiger, Hans vonGasteiger, Hans von, b. Munich (Germany), 1499, d. Vienna, Dec. 27, 1577, hydraulic engineer. Built the large wooden gratings in the River Enns near Hieflau, in the River Salza near Weichselboden and in the River Ybbs near Waidhofen, regulated the River Enns from Hieflau to Steyr and the Danube from Krems to Vienna.
