Moscow (Russia), April 27, 1978, politician (Austrian Communist Party, KPÖ), from 1919 member of the Communist Party, 1922-1926 secretary of the Austrian Communist Youth Association, from 1924 until his death member of the central executive committee of the KPÖ, 1926-1932 secretary of the Communist Youth International in Moscow, 1932-1971 secretary of the central executive committee of the KPÖ, 1935/36 detention in Wöllersdorf, fled to Moscow in 1936, founding member of the 1st Austrian freedom battalion in Slovenia in 1944; 1946-1977 member of the Politburo of the KPÖ.
