Fritz, Marianne geborene Frieß


Fritz, Marianne (née Frieß), b. Weiz (Styria), Dec. 14, 1948, d. Vienna, October 1, 2007, author. Became known for her 3-volume novel "Dessen Sprache du nicht verstehst" (1985). Influenced by R. Musil, she describes in this novel, in a highly individual language, the fate of a working-class family at the end of the Habsburg monarchy. Awarded the Literature Prize of the Federal Province of Styria in 1988.
