Farga, Franz, b. Budějovice, Czech Republic (then Budweis), Oct. 10, 1873, d. Vienna, Aug. 11, 1950, music author and journalist; from 1904 worked for several German-language papers in Paris, from 1914 in Geneva as a reporter for the League of Nations, and from 1923 as journalist, music writer and translator in Vienna.


Works: Die Wr. Oper, 1947. - Biographies of H. Berlioz, L. v. Beethoven, A. Bruckner, C. W. Gluck, J. Haydn, J. Lanner, J. Strauß, W. A. Mozart, F. Schubert, N. Paganini. - Novels: Das ewige Wunder, 1933; Salieri und Mozart, 1937.
