Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG


Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG, bank formed in 1997 as the result of a merger between Erste Österreichische Spar-Casse - Bank AG (Erste österreichische Spar-Casse) and GiroCredit Bank AG der Sparkassen. With a staff of 9357 and 461 branch outlets in Austria (1999) it is Austria's largest private bank. The company focuses on traditional banking business, i.e. retail banking, asset management, real estate financing and securities transactions. It is the central institute of Austria's Savings Banks sector, with which it is not only linked by financial interests but also by joint action on the markets and in product development. Foreign branches, representative offices and participations in several important financial centres in Western Europe (incl. London), the USA (New York), East Asia (Hong Kong) and in particular in the reform countries of Eastern Europe.
