Melk (Lower Austria, suicide), June 11, 1843, Benedictine monk, writer, literary theorist, friend of E. von Feuchtersleben, A. Stifter, F. Grillparzer, E. von Bauernfeld and N. Lenau. Wrote the aesthetic study "Melpomene oder: Über das tragische Interesse" (1827) as well as other writings such as "Über die Freundschaft", 1840, and others. Further works: Über den Umgang mit uns selbst, 1829; Briefe über Goethes Faust, 1834; Studien über Lope de Vega, 1839. - Novels: Don Tiburzio, 1831; Dorats Tod, 1833.
