Einparteiensystem -staatOne-party State, a political system where political business is carried out by one single party to the exclusion of all other political parties. In a single-party system, a state party tries to cover all social groups, it represents a compulsory political ideology and uses the state machinery to exercise political indoctrination; this of course contradicts the original concept of the political party, which requires a multiparty system. State parties in Austria were the Fatherland Front 1934-1938 (corporate state) and the NSDAP (National Socialist German Workers´ Party) between 1938 and 1945.
