Eggelsberg


Eggelsberg, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Braunau, alt. 531 m, pop. 1,906, area 24.18 km2, small industrial and commercial centre in the Innviertel region bordering on Upper Austria and the province of Salzburg. - Bird sanctuary; numerous manufacturing firms: electronics industry (connecting components), brewery, peat works, sawmill and wood production, foil printing. Southwest of E. are Lake Bad Herating and Lake Seeleiten as well as the protected moor area of Ibmer Moos (moorland trail). - Gothic hall church (around 1420-1436) in prominent location, sumptuous Baroque decor, altars in auricular style (around 1660), crucifix by Martin Zürn (1648).
