Eckert, WalterEckert, Walter, b. Leobersdorf (Lower Austria), Sept. 8, 1913, d. Vienna, Jan. 7, 2001, painter and graphic artist. Studied under H. Boeckl, 1935-1939; 1967-1983 professor at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, 1965-1967 president of the Secession in Vienna. His work began with minimal art using block forms, developed to gesticulatory art, later psychograms. Works: Sitzende, 1963; Großer Kopf IV, 1988. Literature: W.
