Dogana

Dogana, first court theatre in Innsbruck, built 1629/30 by C. Gumpp at the instigation of the sovereign, Archduke Leopold V, and mainly on the initiative of his Florentine wife Claudia of Medici; in 1653/55 superseded by a smaller court theatre on the site of today's Landestheater theatre (built in 1844/46). The building of the original court theatre was used for various purposes, e.g. in the 1st half of the 19th century as a customs office ("Dogana"). 1943-45 heavily damaged, today part of the Congress Centre.
