Dobratsch


Dobratsch Mountain, Carinthia, also called Villacher Alpe, 2,166 m high massif at the western end of the Gailtal Alps, consists of Wetterstein limestone and reef limestone, west of Villach, steep drops to the south, west and north. In 1348 a landslide on the south-east slope buried 17 villages. Fine panorama. Skiing region. Pilgrimage church of Maria am Heiligen Stein. Panorama road from Villach to the Roßtratte mountain (1,733 m), television transmitter station; mountain refuges: Ludwig-Walter-Haus (2,143 m), Knappenhütte (1,700 m), Aichingerhütte (1,650 m).
