Ditmar, Karl Rudolf, b. Prenzlau near Szczeczin, Poland (then Stettin), May 3, 1818, d. Vienna, March 22, 1895. Industrialist, in 1839 came to Vienna, founded the first lamp factory in Austria (D. Bros.; in 1895 had approx. 700 employees); around 1860 produced petroleum lamps ("D. lamps").
