Czermak, Johann Nepomuk, b. Prague (Czech Republic), June 17, 1828, d. Leipzig (Germany), Sept. 17, 1873, physiologist, professor in Graz, Krakow, Prague and Leipzig; refined the laryngeal mirror (laryngoscope) invented by L. Tuerk and introduced laryngoscopy and rhinoscopy (examination of the nasal passages) into medical practice.
