Coudenhove-Kalergi, Richard Nikolaus, b. Tokyo (Japan), Nov. 16, 1894, d. Schruns (Vorarlberg), July 27, 1972, author; husband of Ida Roland. Founded the Pan-European Movement in Vienna in 1923, published a magazine of the same name from 1924; C.-K. emigrated to Switzerland in 1938 and then to the USA. 1940 taught in New York; 1923-1972 president of the Pan-European union, from 1947 Secretary General of the European Parliamentary Union.


Works: Paneuropa, 1923; Kampf um Paneuropa, 3 vols., 1925-1928; Eine Idee erobert Europa. Meine Lebenserinnerungen, 1958.
