Corti, Pietro


Corti, Pietro, b. Bergamo (Italy), Feb. 9, 1781, d. Vienna, Aug. 4, 1833, coffee-house owner. In addition to several coffee-houses C. owned cafés in the so-called "Paradeisgartel" (from 1818) and in the Volksgarten park (since 1823; still in existence). In the Biedermeier period the "Corti Cafés" became the most fashionable and elegant coffee-houses in Vienna.
