Concordia


Concordia, society of journalists and writers, founded in Vienna in 1859; their original aim was to support members in need of help (pension funds, insurance for old, disabled and sick members and widows), later acquired status as a social venue (Concordia balls since 1863) and professional representative body. Dissolved in 1938, newly founded in 1946 and in 1958 merged with the Austrian Press Club ("Österreichischer Presseclub"), founded in 1946, to form the "Presseclub Concordia".
