Carolino Augusteum


Carolino Augusteum: The Salzburg museum C. A. offers an extensive collection on history and art of the city and the province of Salzburg. Founded in 1834 by Maria Vinzenz Süß to promote patriotic ideals, came under the patronage of Carolina Augusta in 1850, after her husband, Emperor Franz I, had died and two years later was recognized as part of the municipal administration. In 1922 foundation of the Salzburg Museums Association, in 1923 the natural science collection was incorporated into the Haus der Natur; 1924 opening of the folklore branch in Monatsschlössel palace in the park of Hellbrunn palace. The province of Salzburg contributes financially to the same extent as the City of Salzburg, as laid down in the statute of organization from 1966. In 1978 opening of the toy museum.
