Camping

Camping: Generally, camping with tents or caravans on private ground requires permission by the landowner and is strictly prohibited in nature reserves, along the Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße and in game preserves. Most of the Austrian camping sites (on the road map 1 : 150,000 issued by the ÖAMTC automobile club) are situated close to culturally important places in beautiful landscapes and are equipped with modern sanitary facilities. Users of camping sites have to register with the police. In 1993 there were about 470 camping sites in Austria.

Literature: ADAC-Camp, international camping guide, 1994.
