Burgenländisches LandesmuseumBurgenländisches Landesmuseum, Provincial Museum of Burgenland: Eisenstadt; founded in 1926; merged with the former Sandor Wolf collection and transferred to Museumgasse in 1939; large-scale renovations between 1968 and 1976, when the collection was rearranged. The collections on display in the Burgenland provincial museum are devoted to archaeology, geology, palaeontology, local cultural history, folklore, art history, zoology, botany and the history of wine-growing. Over 70,000 exhibits are shown in 31 rooms. The provincial museum also maintains and supervises some 40 local museums, including the Haydn museum, the museum of the Burgenland firebrigade in Eisenstadt, the Liszt museum in Raiding, the lake museum in Neusiedl am See, the tower museum in Breitenbrunn, the museum of local fauna and flora in Stegersbach and Burg Schlaining.
