Brixen im ThaleBrixen im Thale, Tyrol, municipality in the district of Kitzbühel, alt. 794 m, pop. 2,269, area 31.37 km2, bi-seasonal tourism (325,014 overnight stays), main settlement of the upper Brixental Valley. - Youth centre, single-rope cableway ascending the Hochbrixen mountain (Filzalm 1,319 m), coarse gravel works, old mines (silver, copper). - Late Baroque-classical parish church (first documented mention in 788, rebuilt from 1789 to 1795) with a stucco marble high altar and dome frescos by J. Schöpf and A. Nesselthaler, chapel at the cemetery (1734). On Corpus Christi Day "Antlaßritt" (ceremony commemorating the practice of indulgences granted by the Catholic Church). Literature: S.
