Steyr (Upper Austria), Jan. 20, 1936, steel cutter, founded a steel cutting workshop in Steyr in 1910 (closed down in 1942), made steel cutting into an art form thanks to the "ajour-cut", became internationally famous at the world fairs in Paris and London. Works: Kalksburg cross 1911; key for the new cathedral of Linz, 1924; reliquary cross for St. Stephen´s Cathedral, 1927; liturgical objects. Literature: ÖBL; NDB.
