Bitterlich, Eduard, b. Dubljani (Ukraine), Aug. 17, 1833, d. Pfalzau (municipality of Pressbaum, Lower Austria), May 20, 1872, painter and sculptor; father of Hans Bitterlich. Studied under F. G. Waldmüller at the Vienna Academy, assisted C. Rahl in decorating the Vienna State Opera and in decorating buildings by T. Hansen and several private palaces in Vienna.
