BezirksgerichtBezirksgericht (District Courts), law courts of first instance which settle civil and criminal cases by judges sitting singly. District courts are responsible for the following civil cases: property cases where the amount in dispute does not exceed 100,000 ATS, paternity suits, alimony suits, trespass to chattel or land, rent and lease cases, boundary disputes etc.; most aspects of out-of-court proceedings (probate proceedings, guardianship, land registration, etc.) and criminal cases regarding offences punishable by a fine or a prison sentence of up to one year.
