Since 1961 member of the executive board of the Österreichische Brau-AG (Austrian Breweries), from 1971 director general, 1988-1993 director general of the Österreichische Brau-Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft. Expanded the firm by merging it with the "Schwechater" and "Steirerbräu" breweries. 1980-1988 president of the Austrian Industrialists' Association (Vereinigung der Österreichischen Industrie), since 1991 director of the supervisory board of Austrian Breweries.
