Bardolff, Baron Carl von, b. Graz (Styria), Sept. 3, 1865, d. Graz, May 17, 1953, regular officer; served in World War I as lieutenant-field-marshal and chief of general staff of the Second Regiment; 1932-1937 chairman of the "German Club" in Vienna; from 1938 member of the Reichstag and leader of the paramilitary group "Sturmabteilung" (SA); arrested in 1945 banned from writing.
