AufensteinAufenstein, Tyrol, former castle near Matrei am Brenner at the entrance to Navistal Valley. Fell into ruin from 1430, the castle chapel with its frescoes (14th century) has survived. The church of St. Kathrein (nave changed to Baroque style in 1718) was built in the 2nd half of the 15th century in the place where the castle was located.
