Aschach an der DonauAschach an der Donau, Upper Austria, market town in the district of Eferding, alt. 268 m, pop. 2,140, area 6.05 km2, on the right bank of the Danube and on the northern edge of the Eferding Basin; Danube shipping docks, Western Austrian Waterways Administration - Danube power plant (built 1963; 1,648,000 MWh); bricks, animal feed, preserved foods, and starch production, chemical plant; bridge across the Danube (1962). - First documented 777, shipping toll station (until 1775) with gabled townhouses (16th -18th centuries); late Gothic parish church (around 1490) changed to Baroque style with Classicist high altar; Gothic church with cemetery (1371); Harrach Palace (16th century) with English landscape garden, east wing ("Fürstenstöckl", 1709).
