Agnes von Andechs-Meranien


Agnes von Andechs-Meranien, d. 1263, daughter and successor of Duke Otto I (VI) of Merania (Andechs-Meranien). 1229 married Duke Friedrich II of Austria (thus his title "Dominus Carniolae"); in 1243 the Synod in Friesach dissolved the marriage. Her second husband (1248), who later became Duke Ulrich III, of Carinthia, also became "Herr von Krain" (Master of Carnolia) through his marriage to A.; a son born of this union died young. A. was buried in Sittich (Slovenia).
