Cemetery of Währing, about 1832
This cemetery, set up in 1796, re-designed between 1820 and 1830, was famous for the tombs of the two composers Schubert and Beethoven. After its closure in 1873 the two composers were given a final resting-place in Vienna’s Central Cemetery (cf. "Österreich-Lexikon"). In 1923 the former Währing cemetery was turned into "Schubert-Park", in which the 2 empty tombs were left intact.
