Strauß - summer residence in Salmannsdorf

Even today Salmannsdorf is a Viennese suburb far removed from the City centre. Josef Streim, Johann Strauß junior’s maternal grandfather bought this property where six-year-old Johann composed his first attempt at a waltz in 1831. (“Erster Gedanke” – First Thought). A memorial recalls this event.
