Strauß' opus contains c. 180 waltzes. The most famous - such as "Tales from the Vienna Woods" - have an orchestral introduction with 4 to 5 bi-partite waltzes and a great coda in which themes of the waltz strings recur.
The waltz "Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald" forms a link between the waltz and the „Landler“ which was very popular in the Danube and alpine regions.
