A memorial in honour of Johann Strauß sen. and Joseph Lanner remind the visitor that many melodies were inspired by the town of Baden. 
In 1880 Johann Strauß jun. acquired a summer house with a park at Schönau/Triesting, 8 km from Baden, where he spent several summers. At Schönau he wrote two operettas: "Eine Nacht in Venedig" and "Der Zigeunerbaron".
