Rider Quartet, op.74, No.3: 4th movement
bars 1-8
The movements starts with a vivacious theme derived from the G-minor triad.
bars 19-27
Without a bridging passage the secondary theme in B-flat major turns up, also derived from the triad.
bars 54-58
In the development rhythmic motifs are directly derived from the themes. The beginning is formed by the head motif of the secondary theme.
bars 59-87
The unfolding of the main theme is interrupted by breaks and halts. A process of spiritual and emotional development can be felt in the music. Step by step the main theme comes back till it reaches a fortissimo outbreak in all instruments, leading back to the recapitulation in piano.
bars 131-146
The coda uses only the final bar of the main theme (formed anew in the development) and closes in G major.
