Church of the Piarists, 1780
In this church, "Maria Treu", 8th district, Jodok-Fink-Platz, Haydn conducted the first perormance of his "Missa in tempore belli", on the occasion of Joseph Hoffmann’s first mass after his ordination on December 26th, 1796. This mass is today called "Mass with the drum stroke" because of the characteristic drum solo in the Agnus Dei part. This was the only one of Haydn’s last great masses that was not performed at Eisenstadt first.
