The theme of the Trio consists of a fragmented E-flat major chord; compared to the Scherzo, another world appears - the world of nature, of the horns. Now the 3 horns take over the lead. The orchestra just responds briefly.
Special note: The Trio is a fearful task for the 1st horn, as it transcends the ordinary scale by a third, demanding the blowing of an E flat in the 4th octave. |
