Bruckner: Symphony no.7, 4th movement (Finale)
bars 1-9
The Finale begins with a violin tremolo E - G sharp, like at the beginning of the 1st movement. The main theme is presented by the 1st violin. The close relationship to the theme of the 1st movement is obvious; both main themes (of the 1st and the 4th movement) develop out of the E-major chord.
bars 35-50
The secondary theme has a chorale-like quality, is in A-flat major and resonates of the Adagio in this symphony.
bars 93-109
The theme of the closing group starts unisono and fortissimo; it derives from the main theme of the movement, i.e. the triad.
bars 315-339
The Coda of the movement is based on the organ-point E. Bruckner, who transfers the idea of using stops from the organ to the instrumentation of great symphonic orchestras, leads from pianissimo to a brilliant E-major fortissimo. Starting from the head of the main theme, a motif is split off till the symphony reaches its brilliant conclusion with the main theme of the 1st movement.
