Origin of the name dodecaphony |
The term "dodecaphony" was introduced by René Leibowitz (1913-1972). Dodecaphony (Greek dodeka = 12, phone = voice) means the composition with all equally tempered 12 semitones of an octave, which have equal importance and which the composer first arranges in a row/series.
