Johann Strauß (Sohn) A Survivor from Warsaw: the twelve-note row
Arnold Schönberg

The basic series/row of the work is the following:
The fanfare motif is gained from the first half of the twelve-note row primarily by rhythmic means. The second six notes do not appear in the original succession but as an exact inversion of the first six notes, transposed to the root tone B. This possibility is a characteristic of Schönberg's serial technique.

In the first bar of the composition all 12 notes are stated:

This twelve-note row can be transposed to begin on any note (12 possibilities), it can be mirrored/inverted (another 12 possibilities), played in retrograde/from back to front

Transposition to B flat

Inversion of the basic row
