Arnold Schönberg Centre, Vienna

After Arnold Schönberg's death in 1951 his heritage remained in the possession of his family. In 1977 the collection was handed over to the Arnold Schönberg Institute at the University of Southern California. In 1997 the Arnold Schönberg Centre, a private foundation, was originated by the town council of Vienna and by the International Arnold Schönberg Society. In March 1998 the Schönberg Center was opened at Palais Fanto and serves as an archive for scientific Schönberg studies and research.
