Arnold Schönberg's birthplace
Wien II., Obere Donaustraße 5
This is the house where Arnold Schönberg was born on Sept.13, 1874, not very far from the City centre. Doubtless he was one of the most important composers of the 20th century who risked the step into atonality in 1910 and published his "twelve-note method" in 1923. Schönberg, when asked about his twelve-note system, once answered laconically: "Someone was bound to do it."
