Hauer Schönberg's letters to Hauer

From Schönberg's letters to Hauer:
Berlin, June 23, 1913
Concerning your intention to visit me in Berlin I would ask you to bear in mind that I shall be in Berlin only until July 1 and shall not be back before August 18-20. Besides: I do not know whether your visit will be very rewarding for you. ...
Perhaps it would be more useful if you contacted my pupils or friends like Dr. Anton Webern ... or Alban Berg ... or Karl Linke.

Mödling, December 1, 1923
Your letter has made me very happy.
... I have made up my mind to propose the following plan to you: Let us publish a book together, in which the successive chapters are written alternately. Let us state our ideas precisely, clearly pointing out the differences, even resorting to (polite) polemic and let us try to work together a little in spite of those differences: the common ground we share can certainly serve as a basis to establish a contact without friction.
Besides I want to stress: "Let us show the world that without the Austrians music would not have found a way into the future whereas we know the continuation."
... Maybe your suggestion of a school is even better. Mainly because a natural exchange of thoughts would be possible without the interference of a gloating public that might stir up vicious feelings and stubbornness. But also the book might be helpful in order to define our present points of view."

The plans of collaboration were not realised, neither as regards the textbook nor concerning a school.
