Krumbach
Between 1902 and 1904 J. M. Hauer was an assistant teacher in the village of Krumbach
Krumbach lies in a wooded, hilly region, the "Bucklige Welt" (cf. "Österreich-Lexikon"),
30 km south of Wiener Neustadt, Hauer's birthplace. The village is surrounded by woods, meadows and fields. The presence of a castle illustrates the geographical position of Krumbach in a border region: situated in the south-east of Lower Austria it is not far from the provinces of Styria and Burgenland resp. from the Hungarian border.
