In 1810 Grillparzer submitted his first major drama Blanka von Kastilien to the Hofburg Theater, where it was rejected. In the years that followed, Grillparzer completed various works such as Koenig Ottokar's Glueck und Ende, Der Traum, ein Leben, along with the dramas Ein Bruderzwist in Habsburg, Die Judin von Toledo, and Libussa. He was honored with numerous awards for his works and died on January 21, 1872.
