Wöß, Josef Venantius, b. Kotor, Croatia (then Cattaro), June 13, 1863, d. Vienna, Oct. 22, 1943, church musician, composer, organist, publisher. Proofreader with "Waldheim & Eberle" printers and publishers from 1889-1908; editor with the music publishers "Universal Edition" from 1908; organist at two churches in Vienna ("Marienkirche" and the "Kalvarienbergkirche"); member of the Cecilianist movement, which promotes Catholic church music.
