Volksblatt, Tageszeitung

Volksblatt, daily paper of the ÖVP (Austrian People´s Party) published between 2 October, 1967, and 15 November, 1970. Its precursor was "Das Kleine Volksblatt", a Vienna small-format daily paper founded on 17 January, 1929, as counterpart of "Das Kleine Blatt". The paper was forced to conform politically with National Socialist ideology in 1938 and integrated into the Kleine Wiener Kriegszeitung on 31 August, 1944. It was re-established as an ÖVP daily on 5 August, 1945, and was the central organ of the party until July 1947; name changed to "Volksblatt" in 1967.
