Stubenberg, Styria, municipality in the district of Hartberg, alt. 449 m, pop. 2,325, area 32.52 km2, summer tourism (158,720 overnight stays), located at the edge of the Rabenwald Heights; close to Lake Stubenberg, Feistritzklamm gorge and Herbersteinklamm gorge. - Recreation home for the blind, Herberstein Palace with game park, bathing beach and leisure centre on the lake, St. Josefs monastery, 2 run-of-river power stations at the River Feistritz; trade. - Parish church (1760-1766 by J. Hueber) with painting (1724) by J. C. Hackhofer and beautiful gravestones (e.g. Epitaph of the Herberstein family with almost life-sized crucifix and figures, 16th century); castle (1269, extension from the late 16th century) with arcaded court; Neuhaus Fortress (14th century); Baroque Schielleiten Palace (2nd quarter of the 18th century) with Bundessportschule (federal sports school); ruins of Altschielleiten fortress (13th century).
