Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana

Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana, founded by K. Celtis and other humanists in 1497 in Vienna. It was an association of scholars from the Danube area, similar to the Collegium poetarum et mathematicorum, which was founded at the University of Vienna by Emperor Maximilian I in 1501. Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana had about 40 members, including Vienna's mayor M. Siebenbürger and other personalities such as J. Cuspinian, L. Sunthaym, K. Peutinger (Peutingersche Tafel) and J. Stabius. It sought to pursue humanist ideas and to support literature. Its members usually met in the house of J. Cuspinian, who was the chairman of the association from 1508. After Celtis' death, activities decreased and the sodality was dissolved in 1520.
