Schneeberg Mountain, highest mountain in Lower Austria, massif in the Northern Limestone Alps, one of Vienna´s most popular day-trip destinations, on clear days visible from the hills surrounding Vienna. Most easterly 2,000 m-high mountain of the Alps, separated by the Höllental Gorge from the Rax Mountain; Klosterwappen (2,076 m) and Kaiserstein (2,061 m) summits; since 1897 cog railway from Puchberg am Schneeberg (alt. 585 m) to the Hoch-Schneeberg station (alt. 1,796 m).
